After news arrived stating that Big Bang’s Seungri would be singing a duet with IU for his upcoming solo mini-album, many fans have wondered how the two managed to get together and work together. As it turns out, however, it seems that the two may have promised each other to sing together many years ago, during IU’s trainee days!
Although IU has received many offers to sing duets, she picked Seungri of all people to accept. There was, however, a history behind this, as one representative explains: “It was before IU debuted three years ago and she happened to meet the members of Big Bang. After that, she’s been keeping in touch with the members and during that time, Seungri offered to IU that when she debuted they should sing a duet together. Currently, IU is getting a lot of offers to sing duets songs but among those, she decided to do a duet with Seungri in order to keep her promise.”
A lot is expected from the upcoming duet, titled ‘I Know,’ as the representative had much to share on the track (all of it being positive.) He stated, “IU’s husky voice and Seungri’s unique voice work well together and it’s a new partnership that makes the song sound fresh and cute. They’re the same age and seemed comfortable around each other so they were able to finish the recording well.”
