These three members of Piggy Dolls weight 230kg all together. Music fans are used to skinny girl groups who around 40kg and they’re not like them but they have confidently introduced themselves as dolls. They debuted with the song Trend and after their first broadcast performance, their names have been searched in many portal sites.
The oldest member, Minsun, stood firmly in the middle of the stage and have been making great impact with her strong vocals. She dreamed of becoming a singer since she was 7 years old and in her family, her grandfather did Pansori, which is the traditional Korean narrative song, and her father studied music vocal when he was in high school, and now she is known as having the blessed vocals.
“I want to be a singer who can ring out my chords,” said Jiyeon, who is the second oldest and have dreamed of becoming a singer after attending Park Hyoshin‘s concert, who is the senior of her high school. Her father failed at achieving his dream of becoming a singer due to the members of his family being against it so he is the one who is pushing her to achieve her dreams.
Jieun is the same age as Kara’s Kang Jiyoung, F(x)’s Sulli, 4Minute’s Kwon Sohyun and many others. She studied art and later on found the way that was right for her. After attending an academy for one year, her dream of debuting came true.
“The hardest in dancing while singing live. It’s probably because we’re pretty big. We practiced our breathing a lot. It’s a usual thing for the heels on our shoes to break. It’s probably because our shoes can’t hold us. We’ve already broken a couple of pairs.“
They have felt a burden of being called the second Big Mama or the second Bubble Sisters. But Piggy Dolls said,
“We want to give hope to those who are like us. There are a lot of people who dream of becoming singers at such a young age. There isn’t a law saying that only pretty, skinny girls can be in a girl group. We want to tell them that achieving your dream is more important than what others think about you.“
The major charm in the lyrics of the Piggy Doll’s in confidence. They said, “2NE1 is our role model. They sing really well but when you watch their performance, they’re a group that have a lot to show and we want to be like that. We want to meet 2NE1 and ask them how to play well on stage and ask for their advice.”
The Piggy Dolls said they were disappointed that they weren’t able to break the stage on their debut performance. “There’s still a lot of things we haven’t shown. If we were to go back in time, I think we’ll be able to break the stage.” The strong start of Piggy Dolls is just starting.
