SM Entertainment Announces to Produce a Remake of Hana Kimi and Spills Casting Plans


That’s right! Drama fans, rejoice! Hana Kimi, one of Asia’s most loved dramas of all time will soon have its Korean version pretty soon.
As many of you know, Hana Kimi was a popular Japanese manga which sold over 1,700 copies in Japan alone. And because of its massive popularity not just in its country of origin but also in other countries all over Asia, it ushered in the birth of two successful adaptations in Taiwan and Korea, respectively. The two versions were massive hits all over the Asian region, which brought each version and its respective stars prestige amongst many other Asian dramas.
Recently, SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s big three management companies which is home to Hallyu idols like Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x) and others has announced that they were able to acquire the rights to film a Korean version of the aforesaid manga. And now that the news has come out, there has been an endless run of mill among fans and supporters alike, on who should play the lead roles for this soon to unfold drama.
To excite fans even more, a representative from the company said that they will make the decision on who to cast in the drama through the opinion of the general public, that is through the vote of the fans. Fans who were ecstatic upon hearing such an announcement, were quick to comment things like “Will all of SM Entertainment’s stars star in the drama?” and “I hope universal sports star Minho will be the lead.”
Considering the fact that a number of artists from the company have starred in dramas and movies in the past, netizens have been speculating and looking at the possibility of seeing those who have had a prior acting experience to nab the lead roles. Names like TVXQ’s Yunho and Changmin, Super Junior’s Heechul and Siwon, SHINee’s Minho, SNSD’s Yoona and Sooyoung have all been mentioned together with many others.
The hype is on, and as soon as we can get our hands on the latest updates of this upcoming drama which is targeted to start broadcasting sometime in Summer, we’ll be sure to update you with the latest buzz surrounding it.
