If IU became popular for her three-octave vocals, what about December?

IU has been receiving much love with her comeback, further proved by her status on the charts with her recent Mutizen win. Many have been dubbing her as the “three-octave singer”, as she flawlessly sang all of her live performances, impressing fans.
However, on a Korean portal site, a netizen left a comment on one of IU’s articles stating, December can sing five octaves, but why aren’t they popular?” The comment received well over 200 replies and received much attention in a short amount of time.
The replies consisted of comments such as, “December has a variety-show depression, and since they don’t make appearances on such shows, their popularity is low.”, “Because they’re not idols.“, and “Their visuals aren’t outstanding…”
