YG Entertainment has mapped out how Big Bang and 2NE1 will conquer the Korean wave in Japan in 2011.
After all the scandals with other Kpop groups that had been successful in Japan, it was time to present something that would bring back the success Kpop idols have seen in Japan. With the Japanese fans feeling their idols have failed them with either breaking up or rumors of entertainment companies mistreating their idols, who could bring back their faith in the Korean wave?
Well the president of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyunseok plans to do that with Big Bang and 2NE1 with this upcoming year. They are looked at as the aces of boosting up the popularity of Korean music and achieving success in Japan.
After Big Bang has completed their full promotion for their new album after the concert, they will then be going to Japan. In Japan they will only focus on their activities there, putting anything related with the Korean market to the side. Doing this will separate them from the pack, because other idol groups don’t simply focus on one market but various all at once.
2NE1 has plans on doing the same thing. They will also be going to Japan where they will focus all their attention on that market. President Yang of YGE stated, “BIGBANG is preparing to hold another round of concerts in Japan starting from May with the target of reaching 160000 fans. Although by now, they have only stayed in Japan for about 1 week to promote, they will employ a more active and aggressive way to promote in Japan in the coming year.”
He even mentioned he had plans on promoting 2NE1 last year in Japan, but due to how new they were he didn’t see it as being the right time. Now that their popularity has rose to extreme levels in such a short time their promotions will start this month soon followed by Big Bang.
